Wherever you stop

A camp that travels with you

Your company's fire, tents and wagons, pitched wherever the road leaves you. Nothing can take it: not a defeat, not a missed day.

The hero's camp at dusk behind a palisade: a covered wagon, the smith at his anvil, a striped command tent, the hero's blue banner, a surgeon's cot, a sentry, and the hero and their wolf by the fire.
The palisadeThe Hall at its best. The smith, the surgeon, the kennel-master, the quartermaster and a sentry join as you build.
Built by walking

Five parts, three levels each

  1. HallA fire by the road, then tents and a wagon, then the palisade.
  2. InfirmaryYour worst wounds heal a night sooner.
  3. SmithyWorn gear mends a little every night.
  4. KennelA pet knocked out is back on its feet by morning.
  5. Supply wagonMore bandages, antidotes and firebombs, and a deeper step bank.

Pay in gold and materials from the road, then walk it up. The same steps still carry you and still count for XP.

The camp's parts: the Infirmary, a cot and a kit; the Smithy, an anvil on a cart; each with its cost in gold and materials and the steps to build it.
The Supply wagon and the trophy rack: bosses, named foes, deeds and titles.
Loot worth the walk

Loot, trade and plunder

Gear in five rarities with stats that roll, and plenty of people who want it.

Iron Sword

Frostbrand

Raven Longbow

Elite

The Widowmaker

Legendary

Caravans

Merchant wagons roll the main roads. Trade with them, or rob them. Nobody tells you how many guards they hired, or how good.

The Exchange

A market in every town. Sell your gear to other heroes for gold, Legendaries too, or give it to a friend.

Fiefs and sieges

Guilds take towns and tax their trade. A siege is five against five, in waves, after a 5,000-step march.

Businesses

Buy a mill, a brewery or a coal seam. Every four hours it pays out: pennies, mostly. Now and then, riches.

Never alone on the road

Walk in company

One shared world. The bands, the camps and the war front are the same for everyone, and other heroes show on the roads near you.

Guilds

A banner, a hall and a weekly boss

Up to thirty heroes, a hall to talk in, and each week a named foe worn down by every step the guild takes. When it falls, a Guild Chest.

Leagues

Ranked on consistency, not raw steps

Weekly groups of walkers at your pace. Points come from reaching your own goal; walking far past it earns nothing more.

Friends

Raise a cup

Add friends by code and follow their deeds. No messages, no pressure, and never your steps, sleep or weight.

District chat

The town crier

Talk with the heroes of your district, never the whole world. Filtered and moderated, for players 13 and up.

Brann slew Greymane, the Old Alpha, at Whisperwood.

Edda burned a bandit camp off the King's Way.

Rowan found a Legendary: Emberbrand!

Osric has PERISHED in the Dreadlands.

A warband gathers in the Northern Waste. Gravenhold looks to its walls.

Maud slew Red Jory in the Bandit Hideout.

Ser Garrick has been seen on the roads.

What the crier calls. In the game, news is heard in the district where it happened.

Sealed

The Marchling Charter

Promises the game keeps, written into how it works.

  • Rest heals. It never hurts.Sleep restores your hero, and short sleep is never punished.
  • Defeat never takes your progress.Lose a fight and you may lose what you carry, never your levels, XP, deeds or the distance you've walked.
  • More is not better.Only 20,000 steps count in a day, and step XP tapers well before that. A missed day costs one step of your streak, never the whole of it.
  • Your body is your business.Weight tracking is optional and private. It never touches your power or XP, and you can export or delete it whenever you like.
